cold Supplies. These angle stop supplies are usually frozen in older homes. Use channel lock water pump pliers to slowing close frozen hot and cold angle stop.
2.) Turn handle and open the faucet and let any water in the pipes drain out. Also open a bathtub faucet or bathroom faucet to relieve the pressure from
the kitchen faucet. This faucet also needs to be shut off. Draining water is very important before you start fixing your fixture. 3 .) Before you start disassembling the kitchen faucet, cover or
plug the sink drain hole to stop any unwanted items from entering. Kitchen faucets have small parts and you don't want to lose one down the drain.
4.) Start by removing the faucet handle. Kitchen faucets
handles whether single lever or two handle models have a screw often hidden under a handle button cap that can be pried off with a small mini screwdriver.
5.) If your
faucet has one single handle you are working with a cartridge or control ball type faucet. remove the cap under the handle. A retainer clip usually holds the cartridge in place. Remove this retainer clip and pull out the
old leaking cartridge. Go to your local plumbing supply warehouse and purchase a new one. use a little faucet grease to lubricate the new cartridge before you replace it. 6.) Now if your Kitchen Faucet
has separate handles for hot and cold water , you are working with a faucet that has faucet stems. Remove the handle screws from both hot and cold sides. Under the handle the faucet stem is located. Take a
adjustable crescent wrench and remove each faucet stem in a counterclockwise direction. Once each faucet stem is removed replace the flat faucet washer on the bottom of faucet stem. Take out the screw that holds it in. This
takes care of leaky kitchen faucet that drips. If your faucet stems are corroded ,replace each one with a new one again at your local hardware or plumbing supply dealer.
7.) Now all kitchen faucets have a swing pout that has one or two O-rings inside. Remove the swing spout by placing a rag on the nut for protection not to mar brass finish. Using water pump Channel Lock pliers remove spout going in a counter clockwise direction. Again remove O-rings and replace with faucet grease for smooth swing spout operation.
